Ubisoft plans to replace the activation keys with another solution

  • 51

The activation key is currently the most popular way to purchase a license to use the game. Ubisoft, however, does not like it, because it believes that it is conducive to the development of "the gray zone". That is why a French publisher and developer has a different idea and to this end he has partnered with Genba Digital. Genba is a solution provider called "silent key activation". At the moment, Genba cooperates with 10 retailers, including Fanatical and GamersGate.
The disappearance of the Uplay key market may translate into a drop in the popularity of the Ubi client.
In addition, the login mechanism itself raises doubts, as you may need to enter your Uplay account password in the purchase process. The seller must somehow get authorization on the Ubi account to add the game (unless the Single Sign-On mechanisms are used here). Another system requiring login is another opportunity for crackers as well as dishonest sellers.
