VR is it really going to go anywhere

Ok I see all these amazing games that look like they would be amazing in VR, then you go spend a butt crap ton of money on a GOOD VR setup and you play it for a little while, then you think dang i am tired of wearing this and i want my mouse back..
So is this VR world going to really take off, it worked in the movies, check out ready player one!
