Laptop Cooling pads

  • 4

Whats some of the cooling pads you guys using for your laptops?

I currently am using a cheap kmart one that does abit, but im looking around for a popular one that seems to work best for alienware laptops.

I've seen theres the "Giryriz Smart Laptop Cooling Pad" which is made specifically for the Alienware 15-17 laptops, does anyone here use it? if so, care to share your thoughts?

For better temps I suggest undervolting if you do it right you won't lose a noticeable amount of performance.

We're all here because we're not all there...

Targus makes a great 3-fan, 3-speed Gaming Chill Mat that would work great for 17 and 18-inch laptops.  I have an older model of the mat for my (2013) Alienware 18 laptop.  It requires 2 USB-2 (Type A) ports for power, so I use a GE 4-port, desktop, wall socket plugin USB power source to power the Chill mat, keeping my laptop USB ports free for other uses.  Even at full speed, the fans are not overly loud IMHO.

I agree with this one - it's free and can knock temps down by a noticeable amount. It's even possible that undervolting your GPU (for example) let's it run cool enough to automatically overclock.

In my case, I run an RTX3080 at 0.85v max, slightly altered the GPU fan curves, see 10-15°C cooler temps, no throttling due to hitting the top of the card's power limits - something that happened a lot before I made the changes - but get faster fps in games (usually set to 'Ultra' or 'Epic', or whatever is beyond 'High').

MSI Afterburner and GPU-z monitoring tools are all you need to download to try things like this. Even if you do buy a cooler, it'll have less heat to deal with!
