Everyone loves slapping balls. Pinballs in particular. Maybe it's the violence or just the tactile feedback, but pinball machines are somehow still enjoyable even ten thousand years after their creation. Using that to kill zombies is just the natural evolution. You've killed zombies with everything else... guns, knives, hammers, axes, even typing. Why not shiny metal balls that are sometimes covered in magical elemental powers?
