System Shock has been beautifully remade by Nightdive Studios

For newcomers to the series, the new System Shock is a complete remake of the groundbreaking immersive sim, first released in 1994. Players, in the space-boots of an unnamed hacker who awakes after a six-month snooze, find Citadel Station in quite a state. Murderous robots, killer cyborgs, and malicious mutants have run amok, and the station’s AI, SHODAN, seems to have developed a God complex.

Nightdive has given the entirely remade System Shock the full treatment, recreating the fan-favorite title for modern players with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, revamped hacking, and a renovated Citadel Station with all sorts of new areas and secrets to uncover.

Just check out the new teaser trailer:

System Shock features include:

  • The Return of SHODAN: The talented Terri Brosius returns to bring her unique vocal venom to the villainous AI SHODAN
  • Hackers Gonna Hack: System Shock features a totally revamped hacking system featuring new 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) gameplay, providing new enemies and challenges
  • Familiar but… Different: Citadel Station is bigger and more terrifying than ever with all-new areas, traps, puzzles, and of course, plenty of secrets to uncover
  • The Sound of Terror: Re-recorded audio logs provide players with a drip-feed of horrifying lore as they piece together exactly what went wrong for the dwellers of Citadel Station

Players will blast, smash, and occasionally flee from re-imagined enemies like angry Repair-Bots, "Hopper" Mobile Lasers, mutants, cyborgs, and all kinds of bloodthirsty monsters and aggressive automatons.

System Shock is available to pre-order now for PC and Linux via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Game Store. The new playable demo can also be found on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Game Store. As a pre-order incentive, Nightdive Studios is including the upcoming classic game System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition for all early purchasers.

But that's not all... thanks to our friends at Nightdive Studios, we also have a limited number of codes to give away for the classic, enhanced version of System Shock. Head over to the giveaway and grab your code before they're gone.

UPDATE:  All keys from the giveaway have been claimed.

Try refreshing the page, now that you're Level 2. :)

mm took 8 days to reach the front page, but you ran out of keys in 8 minutes?

Maybe put it in on the frontpage sooner, and/or set aside from keys for the elites next go.

Thanks for the feedback, Eleventeen. Sorry you missed this one. The key pool lasted for about 4-5 hours and was open worldwide to level 2+, and we wanted to make this opportunity available and open to as many as we could. So they did go somewhat quickly, but the keys were available for more than eight minutes. Please check back for more opportunities!
