The Last of Us Season 2 TV Show could Deviate “Radically” from Game

You all shared your opinions with me on a similar news story over a year ago where I’d asked Arena members what their thoughts were on video game adaptations in general. The Last of Us (TLOU) show has been getting rave reviews, and converted fans have begun buying the game in droves. That said, I won’t speak for all viewers and say everyone loved the HBO adaptation equally. The showrunner Craig Mazin responded to some comments regarding those sore about the show deviating from or altering certain storyline components of the game.

"[Season two] will be different just as this season was different [from the first game]," Mazin said. "Sometimes it will be different radically, and sometimes it will be [barely] different at all. But it's going to be different and it will be its own thing. It won't be exactly like the game. It will be the show that Neil [Druckmann] and I want to make."

The Last of Us Part 1 is set to release to PC on March 28th, opening the game up to many who aren’t able to access a PlayStation. While I doubt a PC port for the sequel will launch before the next TV show season does, many have already been clamoring and renewed popularity for the sequel has soared. With a new season on the horizon (and confirmation that the second season is not going to cover the full length of the sequel game/will go far more in-depth in certain characters than the games could provide), fans have some serious questions.

Now, TLOU 2 had a pretty controversial storyline and way of handling certain characters’ stories, so I am popping popcorn thinking about the internet dialogue I’ll get to watch unfold during the season’s run. I have plenty of opinions of my own, but I am curious to ask Arena members:

Lord of Flies

I didn't watch the TV series but I'm aware that it was ok for the majority of the audience even when they added "Woke" content in it, but if they are going to deviate from the games I'm not sure the 2nd season could like to the viewers or players.
